Diligent Bookworms

Simo Helenius’s concrete sculpture Diligent Bookworms depicts child figures crawling through a large book in front of the school Samppalinnan koulu. The book is considerably larger than the children, alluding to the imaginative possibilities offered by books and their ability to draw readers entirely into their world. The work radiates the warmth and humour characteristic of the artist’s expression.
