At the Museum

At WAM, you’ll find the WAM Shop and Sommar Café & Bistro. Browse the shop for inspiring reads, art-related gifts and souvenirs. Stop by the café for a coffee and a bite to eat, then continue your museum visit with views of the River Aura and Turku’s riverside cultural district. WAM is also easy to visit with children.

WAM Shop

The museum shop extends the experience beyond your visit. At WAM Shop, you’ll find inspiring art prints, books, postcards, gifts and small mementoes from the world of Finnish and international contemporary art.

The bright shop on the banks of the River Aura is open to everyone, whether or not you are visiting the museum. At WAM Shop, a carefully curated selection meets expert service and responsible choices. Every product has been selected with sustainability, quality and enjoyment in mind.

Sommar Café & Bistro

Sommar is a café and dinner restaurant at WAM, on the banks of the River Aura.

During the day, Sommar Café serves locally roasted coffee alongside sweet and savoury sourdough bakes.

In the evenings, tables are filled with small plates designed to share, while the glasses are poured with interesting wines from small producers. The food is seasonal, unfussy and curious. At Sommar Bistro, guests are encouraged to eat together, order several dishes to share and settle in for a long, relaxed evening. From Thursday to Saturday, Sommar stays open late into the evening.

During the warmer months, Sommar spills out onto the museum’s spacious riverside terrace.

Hosting an event at WAM

WAM’s striking architectural spaces provide a distinctive setting for a wide range of corporate and private events.

Visiting WAM with children

The museum is accessible with prams and pushchairs. There is a ramp and automatic door-opening button at the main entrance and at the café entrance. The accessible entrance is located at the Fuuga end of the building. We recommend using the main entrance when arriving with a pushchair. The museum’s lifts provide step-free access throughout the building.

Pushchairs can be left in the museum lobby or outside the workshop space. Please ask a member of staff for assistance. Pushchairs are also available to borrow from the museum lobby.

Young babies can be carried in a front-facing baby carrier or sling.

A baby-care room is located next to the workshop space. The toilet facilities next to the cloakroom in the lobby include a smaller toilet for children, a changing table and a potty.

Photography at WAM

You are welcome to take photographs at WAM for personal use, provided you do not use a flash or tripod. Please also take photographs without selfie sticks or stabilisers. Photographs may not be used for commercial purposes.

Please avoid photographing other visitors or museum staff. Recording guided tours is not permitted. Always follow the instructions given by museum staff.

Photography restrictions are in place for copyright and museum security reasons.

Media representatives may photograph in the museum with a valid press card. Please notify customer service at the ticket desk when you arrive.

WAM also has several striking spaces that are suitable for commercial photography, film and television productions. If you are interested in organising commercial, advertising or fashion photography at the museum, please contact us well in advance.
