Schools and early years groups

What do you see, what do you think and what makes you wonder?

At WAM, contemporary art is explored through looking, talking, asking questions and making things. Schools and early years groups are welcome to visit our exhibitions independently, with a guide or as part of a workshop.

Admission to WAM is free for visitors under 18. Upper secondary students over 18 who are visiting as part of a school group also enter free of charge.

Classes can visit WAM independently, join a guided tour or take part in a workshop. We kindly ask all groups to register their visit in advance.

When visiting the museum as a group, please check in with a member of staff at the museum lobby.

The museum has storage chests for backpacks, but due to the limited space in our facilities, we recommend leaving backpacks at school whenever possible. Our staff will direct you to the cloakroom and backpack storage area. The toilets are located in the museum entrance area, behind the cloakroom.

Teachers and other accompanying adults are asked to stay with their group throughout the visit. Children remain the responsibility of the accompanying adults while at the museum. Please be considerate of other visitors and groups. Photography is permitted without flash. Please avoid photographing museum staff and other visitors.

The museum staff can provide writing boards, pencils and sitting mats. Please do not write against walls or artworks.

Groups attending a guided tour or workshop will receive practical information and instructions for their visit in advance.

Tips for a great visit

• Take your time and walk calmly. Please do not run.
• Feel free to talk about the artworks and share your thoughts and questions out loud. Please do not touch the artworks or lean against walls or plinths.
• Please do not eat or drink in the exhibition spaces. Unfortunately, the museum does not have space for visitors to eat their own packed lunches.
