This is WAM
WAM is a home for contemporary art with a global vision and a local heart. Located in Turku, Finland, the museum will reopen in October 2026 after an ambitious renovation and expansion.
Originally completed in 1967, WAM’s building is celebrated as a cornerstone of Finnish modernism and museum architecture. The renewed WAM will honor this legacy while offering a bold stage for contemporary art. Visitors can experience exhibitions by both Finnish and international artists, alongside highlights from the city’s extensive art collection.
Beyond exhibitions, WAM offers a vibrant cultural hub: a welcoming museum shop, a cozy café, guided tours, workshops, and events for all audiences. The WAMx studio space is a laboratory for experimentation, bringing together art forms, artists, and communities to create works and encounters that challenge, surprise, and inspire.
As the regional art museum of Southwest Finland, WAM also cares for the City of Turku’s remarkable collection of around 10,000 works. Public art is part of daily life here, from over 100 outdoor sculptures in city spaces to works in schools, daycare centers, and municipal offices.
