Collection Services
WAM provides services for other museums, City of Turku service areas, private individuals and members of the media. In its role as the regional art museum, WAM also serves other municipalities in Southwest Finland. Collection services are currently available on a limited basis as we await the completion of the new collection centre.
Expert services
WAM provides advice and information relating to art and the City of Turku Art Collection. WAM does not provide valuations of works of art or assessments of their authenticity.
Image requests
High-resolution images of works in the collection can be requested from WAM. Please include information about the work you need an image of, the intended use of the image and the person or organisation responsible for the image use agreement.
Image use is generally subject to a fee. Commercial use, for example, is always charged in accordance with the current price list.
Responsibility for determining and paying any applicable copyright fees always lies with the user of the image.
Depositing works in City premises
WAM places works from the City of Turku Art Collection on long-term deposit in city premises, including schools, libraries and community centres. Depositing works brings art beyond the museum walls and makes it part of everyday life for local residents, including those who might not otherwise encounter art.
Loans from the collection
WAM lends works from the City of Turku Art Collection to museums and exhibition organisers. At present, loans are available on a limited basis as the art collection is being packed in preparation for its move to the new collection centre.
Each loan request is considered individually. The condition of the works and WAM’s own exhibitions are given priority when loan decisions are made. Borrowing organisations must have appropriately supervised, environmentally controlled facilities and professional museum expertise or equivalent competence.
Loan requests must be submitted to WAM in writing at least eight months before the start of the loan period when several works are requested, and four months in other cases. When making a decision, WAM considers factors including the condition of the work, exhibition conditions – particularly for works made from sensitive materials – and other circumstances relevant to the loan.
