Lehtonen, Master of Arts, has led the Lönnström Art Museum since 2021. She previously worked as a curator at the Aboa Vetus Ars Nova Museum, where she curated both Finnish and international exhibitions and developed a deep familiarity with the Turku art scene.

With extensive experience in museum work, strong leadership skills, and a bold curatorial vision, Lehtonen brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.

– Silja brings expertise and creativity to enrich WAM’s journey towards a new kind of exhibition, says Satu Pajarre, Director of WAM.

Lehtonen is excited to return to Turku’s art exhibition field.

– It is inspiring to plan the future of WAM’s exhibition program as the museum prepares for its reopening. I look forward to working with the dedicated museum staff and collaborating with exceptionally talented artists, she says.

Lehtonen will officially assume the position of Chief Curator on 7 January 2026.
