Social commentary in a mischievous and satirical way
The focus is on the public spaces we all share; how their use is controlled and restricted by exclusionary urban planning and how we unknowingly accept it. Haro’s work makes visible and questions aspects of the use of public space that we ignore or take for granted.
Jussi Haro uses materials such as objects found on the streets, concrete, and car window glass. Haro’s work is guided by a long-term process of material collection. Through his collection, Haro aims to record public space as part of his own artistic work.
The exhibition is curated by Jonni Saloluoma of WAM Turku City Art Museum. The exhibition is supported by The Finnish Heritage Agency.

Exhibition text by poet Hanna Storm
The guiding idea of the exhibition series is to invite a writer or an author from outside the field of visual arts as a work partner for each artist. The partner will write a text as part of the exhibition based on the theme and works of the exhibition. The exhibition text for Jussi Haro’s exhibition is written by the poet, performance artist and doctor of literature Hanna Storm (b. 1985) from Turku. Through her art, Storm examines experiences of outsiderness and loneliness. Themes important to her include spoken language, mixing different linguistic registers, minimalism, typographic tools as well as taking into account the physicality and holistic artistic nature of works of poetry. Storm has published three collections: Kutsun itseni kylään (Inviting myself over) (Aviador 2018), Kanootin säilyttämisestä talven yli (About storing a canoe through winter) (Aviador 2020) and Silittäisinkö häntä vähän (Should I caress them a little) (Aviador 2023).
