Canadian Media Artist Sabrina Ratté to Open WAM’s New Exhibition Space in October 2026
30.06.2025
The WAM Turku City Art Museum, currently undergoing renovation, will reopen to the public in October 2026. The opening exhibitions will showcase both international contemporary art and highlights from the city’s own art collection.
WAM will present the work of Canadian media artist Sabrina Ratté for the first time in Finland. Her visually rich and captivating pieces critically explore the human impact on the planet and the interplay between digital and physical realities. The exhibition will feature large-scale, multi-channel video works, image prints and interactive elements. The artworks will be displayed in a new exhibition space located on the museum’s ground floor.
Alongside Ratté’s exhibition, the museum will unveil a complementary show featuring selected works from the City of Turku’s art collection. This collection-based exhibition focuses on art from the period of the museum building itself, spanning the 1960s to the present day. It will also include a substantial presentation of Wäinö Aaltonen’s work and a dedicated section examining Aaltonen as both an artist and a person.
