Introducing WAM Museum of Contemporary Art
20.05.2026
Starting in May 2026, Turku City Art Museum will become WAM Museum of Contemporary Art as part of WAM’s broader rebranding initiative. The new visual identity will be introduced in early autumn 2026.
“WAM Museum of Contemporary Art reflects the museum’s profile: we present contemporary art, and our collection continues to grow with works of our time. Our particular focus is on three-dimensional and spatial contemporary art. The name of the museum building will remain the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum — it is engraved on the museum façade and forms an integral part of the museum’s history,” says Director Satu Pajarre.
WAM’s brand renewal is being developed in collaboration with Kobra Brand and Design Agency. WAM Museum of Contemporary Art will reopen to visitors following the renovation on 31 October 2026.
